Well today was going to mark the start of "Transplant Week", but Rmad's holiday snaps proved to be too important to pass up.

Always vigilant for retro action Rmad noticed that the Rally Classico Isla Mallorca was happening whilst he was out on a family holiday, so in true dedicated RSM manner he risked the wrath of family and put you, our dear reader, first.  Check out our Flickr photostream for all of the Balearic classic action.

However there is more to the tale.  You see a few months ago the classic car forums were abuzz with news that the Top Gear team had gone to an auction and purchased three cars.  The worst was feared, that they would smash them up in a stunt of some description during which they would guffaw and slap each other on the back for being so damn original.  However the worst need not be feared, actually living up to their remit as car lovers they entered the Rally Isla Mallorca in three presentable cars.  Photographic evidence exists below

Apparently the Lanchester wasn't seen without its bonnet up, other than that though the Midget and the Citroen performed admirably.  The results are on the website of the Rally so you can see for yourself how they did, or you can wait for the show to air if you want the surprise.

I for one look forward to seeing this on the television.  Also I'm guessing I'm not alone in looking to book somewhere to stay for next year’s rally.. Whose with me?

Cheers Michiel. Not bad for unplanned coverage - I think I might return (deliberately this time!) next year.

Nice to see the old Ami exceed expectations. A decent result too since it was the lowest powered car to cross the finish line, and not last either. Smile

The TG team didn't do that badly really. For the first day and a half they weren't even on the island so that would've effected their points somewhat. If you look at the results - www.rallyislamallorca.com/resultados.aspx - then you can see that when they did participate, they did OK. Particularly James May on the last day at the circuit if the results are accurate.

Never had it. Just a guess. No fun – go see a dentist/doctor if it doesn’t get better. Take care of you.
