This week we're going to go through our trend predictions from last week, let us start with Video.
Do you remember when you'd go to an event, or even more likely miss an event, then have to wait two months for photographs to hit the magazine stands? Those days seem to be history with event photos being available the day after, or in some cases the day of, an event. You fire up your browser, hit your favourite forums, blogs or photo sharing website and search for the event. Now days you can often add your favourite video sharing site into that list as well.
In addition to event coverage turning up in video form we are starting to see more and more individual cars turn up on the likes of Vimeo and Youtube, people showing off their latest build. Other people are providing video evidence of where they are with their current project, that fantastic moment that the engine first fires up, or it rolls under its own steam, or they are out for the first test drive. We are becoming used to these things being available in the same way we have become accustomed to instant photographic gratification.
There is more though, as we previously blogged, there are more and more videos done with higher production values, or with as much of an eye on art as content. Will we see the day where we will be able to pick up DVDs in the manner of skateboard, snowboard and BMX DVDs, collections of segments about our scene? I'm sure if you are into more modern cars this is already a reality, but I feel this will move into the world of Retro in 2009. Or at least we'll see more people utilising video to show off their pride and joy.
Until the DVD is available you can make yourself youtube playlists from the videos we've posted in our linklog over the past year to keep yourself amused for a good hour or so.
Now all we need is to get myself a good quality digital camcorder and we can join the ranks of video sharers...
